Stafford Stevens - Therapeutic Massage Therapist in West Hollywood

BODY At the Hilo School of Massage in Hilo Hawaii a team of experts introduced me to the academic study of Massage. A Registered Nurse taught us Anatomy and Physiology. A doctor of medical anthropology and acupuncture illuminated oriental, medical theories as he explained Shiatsu techniques. And, a career body worker of 20 years shared her knowledge of many massage modalities: Swedish, Sports, Traeger, Rolfing, Lomi Lomi and energy work. I graduated in 1993 and was subsequently licensed in June of 1994. 1993, 4 and 6 - Did post event massage at the Ironman Triathlon in Kona Hawaii I have also held a Cosmetology License for 22 years. In 1998 I did hair and make-up for 8 Playboy Videos and 2 Indy Films. I brought my massage table to the set and got so busy I quit the glam department all together. MIND At the University of Hawaii at Manoa (Honolulu), I studied Psychotherapeutic Modalities in the Counselor Education Department. I received a Masters Degree in Education, Counseling and Guidance in 1996 and subsequent Licensure in 1997. I find that basic counseling skills transfer easily to the massage therapy setting. The hands do the listening while the body talks. Current California Counselors Credential (PPSC) 2003 -2008. SPIRIT I studied belief systems at the University of Hawaii in Hilo where I received a B.A. in Comparative Religion. With a multicultural and integrated religious theory I embrace the movement of spirit in our lives. Current inspirations are Carolyn Myss www.myss.com and Gangaji www.gangaji.com HEALTH I am presently continuing my education in health sciences as a Registered Nursing Major at SMC. I plan to attend UCLA’s Nurse Practitioner Program.
